Maria Teresa de Noronha

Maria Teresa do Carmo de Noronha Serôdio Guimarães ( born November 7, 1918 in Lisbon, † July 4, 1993 in São Pedro de Penaferrim, Sintra circle ) was a singer of fado.

She came from a noble family and sang fado early in the circle of friends and family. As she begins to sing in Fadolokalen, it arouses the interest of fado circles of Lisbon. In 1939, she takes her first single, O Fado dos Cinco Estilos ( " Fado of 5 styles " ), after it was further known through appearances on the radio. She gets own radio show at the Emissora Nacional, Fado e Guitarradas that is sent for 23 years.

Her way of singing and performing her bring increasingly popularity and reputation. She is invited to the opening of the airline Lisbon - Rio de Janeiro and sings in 1946 in Madrid and at the Book Fair in Barcelona at the invitation of the Spanish state.
