Maria Vittoria dal Pozzo

Maria Vittoria dal Pozzo ( Maria Vittoria dal Pozzo della Giovanna Carlotta Enrichetta Cisterna; born August 9, 1847 in Paris, † November 8, 1876 in Sanremo ) was Queen of Spain ( 1870-1873 ) and Duchess of Aosta ( 1863-1876 ).

She was born in Paris, the daughter of Charles Emmanuel, Prince dal Pozzo dalla Cisterna, and his wife Louise Caroline Ghislaine, Countess of Merode. She enjoyed an excellent education and spoke five languages.

On 30 May 1863, they added married in Turin Amadeus, Duke of Aosta, son of the Italian king Victor Emmanuel II. When her husband was elected on 16 November 1870 the Spanish king, she became the Queen of Spain, but Amadeus already thanked 2 years later, on 11 February 1873 from.

The couple had three children:

  • Emanuel Philibert (* January 13, 1869, † July 4, 1931 ) Marshal of Italy, married to Hélène of France ( 1871-1951 ), a daughter of Philippe d' Orléans
  • Vittorio Emanuele, Count of Turin (* November 24, 1870, † October 10, 1946 )
  • Luigi Amadeo, Duke of the Abruzzi (* January 29, 1873, † March 18, 1933 ), vice - admiral of the Royal Italian Navy.

She died at the age of 29 years in Sanremo and was buried in the Basilica di Superga in Turin.
