Marian Wróbel

Marian Wróbel ( born January 1, 1907 in Krukienica near Lemberg, † April 25, 1960 in Warsaw) was a Polish chess composer.

Wróbel studied Polish philology at Lviv and Warsaw, where he graduated in 1932 as Master. He went first to the teaching profession, but he broke this activity due to health problems off and was transferred to the school administration.

His first chess composition he published in 1922, he published a total of 430 tasks of which 161 won prices ( including 88 first ). His specialty was two-and three Züger. 44 of his problems were published in the FIDE Albums. 1954 FIDE awarded him the title of Master of Chess Composition, 1959, he became an International Master of chess composition.

Wróbel, who is next to Dawid Przepiórka as the greatest Polish composer chess was as a publicist very active: He edited numerous Polish newspapers chess and chess columns, he also published three important books on chess composition.
