Mariana Frenk-Westheim

Mariana Frenk - West home ( born June 4, 1898 in Hamburg, † 24 June 2004 in Mexico City) was a German - Mexican prose writer, Hispanistin, literature professor and one of the most important translators of Mexico.

As a descendant of Sephardic Jews emigrated in 1930 with her husband Ernst Frenk and their two children, Margaret and Sylvester, to Mexico. In 1935 she participated in the Mexican citizenship. After the death Frenks 1957 she married the art historian Paul West home, whose works she translated into Spanish.

She was known for her translations of the Mexican author Juan Rulfo into German. In addition, she has published poems and aphorisms, most recently the 2002 volume of poetry, "A Thousand Rhymes for Big and Small. , The animal and the world of things presented alphabetically ."
