Marianne Merchez

Marianne Merchez ( born November 25, 1960 in Uccle, Belgium) was between 15 May 1992 and 1995, an astronaut of the European Space Agency ESA.

She is married to the Italian Maurizio Cheli, who was also a member of the European Astronaut Corps.

Marianne Merchez studied medicine and space medicine and settled for airline pilot (Boeing 737 ) on form. She was the first astronaut of the European Space Agency, but left after her marriage with Maurizio Cheli, the corps again to have been allocated without a mission.

She currently lives in Turin, Italy, and operates with her husband, the consulting firm Zenix Consulting.
