Mariano Arana

Mariano Arana ( born March 6, 1933, Montevideo) is an Uruguayan architect and politician.

The descendant of Spanish immigrants took over as founder and chairman of the Vertiente Artiguista for the Frente Amplio 1989-1994 true mandate as a Senator. He then worked as Intendente of Montevideo on 5 May 1994 to 1 March 2005. Immediately following this, he took over from 1 March 2005, the leadership of the Ministry of Housing, Spatial Planning and Environment of Saúl Irureta until he was replaced on March 3, 2008 by Carlos Colacce in this function. Since March 3, 2008, he again sits as a senator in the Cámara de Senadores.
