Mariano González

Mariano Nicolás González ( born May 5, 1981 in Tandil ) is an Argentine football player.

The attacking midfielder started his career at Racing Club Avellaneda. Here he played in the seasons 2002/ 03 and 2003/ 04 in stem formation, before he moved to Italy to Palermo for season 2004/ 05. In Palermo he was already used in his first season on a regular basis, but the jump he succeeded in the starting eleven only in his second season. After two seasons in Palermo González played the 2006/07 season on loan at Inter Milan, with whom he won the Italian championship. For the 2007/08 season González was awarded to Portuguese champions FC Porto, who committed him in connection permanently.

National

At the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens González won with the selection of Argentina the gold medal in the Olympic football tournament. At the Copa America in 2004, he took 2nd place with Argentina.
