Marica (mythology)

Marica is a nymph in Roman mythology. Virgil describes it in his Aeneid ( 7:47 ) as the wife of Faunus and mother of Latinus. The sacred forest near Minturnae was ordained Marica.

Marica was used by the Romans as a synonym for the fauna.
