Marie de Hautefort

Life

Marie was the youngest of six children of the Marquis Charles de Haute Fort ( † 1616) and his wife, Renée, daughter of René and Catherine du Bellay de La Flotte -Hauterive. In quest of her grandmother, the " Dame de la Flotte ," she was maid of honor of the French queen, Anne of Austria. At the court she was nicknamed " l' Aurore ". The poet Paul Scarron praised them with the verses: " Objet rare et charming, merveille incomparable, Logez qui dans le corps d' une fille adorable le courage et l' esprit d'un homme généreux! " Cardinal Richelieu, however, disapproved of the influence that Marie got the time on the king. In 1635 he succeeded Marie displace from their position and replaced by another maid Louise de La Fayette. As in 1639, the Marquis de Cinq- Mars new favorite of the king was, Marie was exiled. After the death of Cardinal in 1643, she returned back to the court, but could not be maintained, as well as the new strong man, Cardinal Jules Mazarin she refused. 1646 she married the Marshal Charles de Schomberg. The marriage remained childless. But when she died at the age of 75 years, visited King Louis XIV, who should have appreciated her deathbed.
