Marie Dumesnil

Marie Françoise Dumesnil, actually Marie Françoise Marchand ( born January 2, 1713 Paris, † February 20, 1803 in Boulogne -sur -Mer ) was a French actress.

Marie Dumesnil was the daughter of a penniless nobleman and first moved with migratory theater companies in the province around, in which she played roles in the light genre. In 1737 she made her debut at the Théâtre français then as Clytemnestra in Paris with great success and had since then only in highly tragic roles as Medea, Merope, Cleopatra, Athalia, Semiramis, Agrippina, etc., for which she was beanlagt in an excellent manner.

It was after a year Societärin of that theater, in 1776 retired from the stage and died, 90 years old, on 20 February 1803 in Boulogne -sur -Mer.
