Marineamt

The Marine Office ( MARA ) was a higher command authority of the German Navy, which consisted 1965-2012. The staff of the Admiralty was last stationed in Rostock, parts of the rod at the sites Wilhelmshaven, Bremerhaven and Berlin. Following the realignment of the Armed Forces of the Joint Staff of the Navy, the Fleet Command and the Naval Office on October 1, 2012, merged the Naval Command, based in Rostock.

Tasks

History

Already in 1957 the naval authorities intended to build a Marine Office, which should be responsible for general tasks of the Navy. The purpose established Central Marine Department, however, had already been dissolved in 1959 again.

Outline 1965

In 1965 the Navy Office was established by merging the former Central Marine Commandos with parts of the resolved command of the naval base. It was based in Wilhelmshaven, and was divided into six inspections, which were under the schools of the Navy and some other services.

Reorganizations

In 1974, the Naval Support Command ( MUKdo ) was set up as a third command Higher Authority of the Navy, which was responsible for the direct support of the fleet. The Navy Office was responsible for fundamental matters of training and naval equipment. The logistics department moved in 2003 from Wilhelmshaven to Rostock and was temporarily housed in a rented building in the DSR Rostock seaport.
