Mario Cvitanović

Mario Cvitanović [ mariɔ tsʋitanɔʋitɕ ] ( born May 6, 1975 in Zagreb ) is a former Croatian football player.

Career

The left-back played in the youth at Radnik Požarevac and began his professional career in 1995 with NK Dinamo Zagreb. With Cvitanović Zagreb Croatian football champions five times before moving in 2000 to Italy to Hellas Verona.

For the season 2001 /02 the Croat joined the SSC Venice, in the following season he was at Genoa active. 2003 wanderer finally moved to Napoli.

2004 ended Cvitanovićs time in Italy. After a short time was without a club, he joined during the 2004/ 05 season at the Belgian club Germinal Beerschot Antwerp. With the Antwerpenern 2005 he was Belgian Cup winners.

2006 Cvitanović decided to go back to his Croatian homeland; he moved back to NK Dinamo Zagreb. During the winter break but the defender already returned to Zagreb again the back and joined the Bundesliga side Energie Cottbus on. Cvitanović was on the left wing immediately regulars and was absent in the second half of his first season a minute. After the injury of his teammate Mariusz Kukiełka he moved for the last four games of the 2007/08 season in central defense. Overall, he played in one and a half years, 48 times for the Lausitz. After descending the Cottbus 2009 Treaty of Cvitanović was dissolved.
