Mario Mafai

Mario Mafai ( born February 12, 1902 in Rome, † March 31, 1965 same place ) was an Italian painter of Expressionism.

He was in the late 1920s along with Scipione ( Gino Bonichi ) one of the pioneers of the Italian Expressionism and co-founder of the Roman artist group Scuola romana ( novecento ) ( sometimes referred to as Scuola Via Cavour), which as a countermovement to the then contemporary taste dominant monumentalist the so-called Novecento understand. The artist was married to the painter Antonietta Raphael de Simon Mafai.
