Mario Mauro

Mario Mauro ( born July 24, 1961 in San Giovanni Rotondo ) is an Italian politician. April 28, 2013 to February 22, 2014 he was Minister of Defense of Italy.

Life

After a university degree in philosophy in 1985, Mauro was first a member of the party, Forza Italia, in which he was responsible for the area schools and universities. In the European elections of 1999 he was elected to the European Parliament, where he joined the EPP-ED group joined and was until 2004 Vice- Chairman of the Committee on Culture, among others. In the European elections in 2004 he was again elected and appointed on 20 July 2004 of the fourteen Vice- Presidents of Parliament.

After the 2009 European elections Mauro was Jerzy Buzek was a candidate of the European People's Party for the office of Hans -Gert Poettering as President of the European Parliament in conversation, but then instead nominated.

In the parliamentary elections in Italy 2013 Mario Mauro went to Mario Monti's civil list Scelta Civica. In the cabinet Letta he took over the defense portfolio.
