Mario Moya Palencia

Mario Moya Palencia ( born June 14, 1933, Mexico City; † 9 October 2006) was a Mexican diplomat and politician of the Partido Revolucionario Institucional (PRI ), a diplomat.

Biography

Moya Palencia graduated after school to study law at the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México, which he completed in 1959 with a Bachelor and admitted to the bar. In addition, he completed post-graduate studies in Mexican history. After working as a lawyer in Mexico City, he was a member of the PRI and began following a career as an official in the government administration and the Ministry of Interior ( Secretaría de Gobernación ), where he quickly made ​​his career. After working as a head of department, he was Deputy Director for Real Estate in the National Probate ( Patrimonio Nacional). He was subsequently appointed Director General from 1964 to 1968 for radio, television and cinema, before he was a year of Under Secretary in the Ministry of Interior. Previously, he was for a short time General of the paper production and import corporation ( pipsa ).

In 1969 he was appointed by President Gustavo Díaz Ordaz Luis Echeverría Álvarez as the successor of the Interior. This office, the second- highest office after the President, he held until 1976 and in the subsequent government of the current president Echeverría Álvarez. During his tenure, it came on 10 June 1971 on the bloody crackdown on student unrest ( Matanza del Jueves de Corpus ). Later, he was from 1988 to 1989 Ambassador to the United Nations (UN ) and from 1990 to 1993 in Cuba. From 1994 to 2001 he was then ambassador to Italy and beyond temporary special envoy to Central America and the Caribbean for issues of regional cooperation.
