Mario Orozco Rivera

Mario Orozco Rivera ( born January 19, 1930 in Mexico City; † 20 November 1998) was a Mexican painter. He was a nephew of the artist José Clemente Orozco.

Life and work

Orozco Rivera studied from 1952 at the Escuela Nacional de Pintura, Escultura y Grabado " La Esmeralda", among others Manuel Rodríguez Lozano and Carlos Orozco Romero. From 1956 he taught as a master of painting at the Faculty of Fine Arts at the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México and a member of the Salón de la Plástica Mexicana and in 1957 a member of the Frente Nacional de Artes Plásticas ( FNAP ). From 1961 to 1964 he was a lecturer at the Universidad Veracruzana, founded the training workshop for fine arts and several murals painted there. 1964 offered him David Alfaro Siqueiros at the position of deputy head of its artist's workshop in Cuernavaca. Here he painted murals in more Polyforum Cultural Siqueiros.

Orozco Rivera exhibited his paintings in several solo and group exhibitions and has won several awards at home and abroad. He was for many years a member of the Partido Comunista Mexicano, and then a member of the Partido Socialista Unificado de México. Rafael López Jiménez and also included Víctor Jara to his friends.
