Mario Toso

Mario Toso SDB ( born July 2, 1950 in Mogliano Veneto, Treviso, Italy ) is an Italian religious priests and Curia Bishop of the Roman Catholic Church.

Life

Mario Toso took effect on August 16, 1967 at the Congregation of the Salesians of Don Bosco. He studied philosophy and Catholic theology at the Theological Faculty in Turin and also earned the baccalaureate in theology. On July 22, 1978 he was ordained priest.

Toso in 1978 received his doctorate at the Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore in Milan in philosophy. In 1981 he graduated from the Pontifical Salesian University licentiate in philosophy and in 1982 the Pontifical Gregorian University at the licentiate in Catholic theology.

He was appointed Professor of Social and Political Philosophy at the Pontifical Salesian University in 1991. Among many other positions, he was at this religious high school 1994-2000 Dean of the Faculty of Arts and 2003-2009 rector.

He also taught social studies at the Pontifical Lateran University and was consultant to the Pontifical Council for Justice and Peace.

On 22 October 2009 Pope Benedict XVI appointed him. Titular Bishop of Bisarcio and ordered him to succeed Giampaolo Crepaldi Secretary of the Pontifical Council for Justice and Peace. He received his episcopal consecration Cardinal Secretary of State Tarcisio Bertone SDB on 12 December of the same year in St. Peter's Basilica; Co-consecrators was the president emeritus of the Pontifical Council for Justice and Peace, Renato Raffaele Cardinal Martino, and the Archbishop of L' Aquila, Giuseppe Molinari.

Toso speaks his native language, nor French, Spanish and English.

Work

Toso is particularly concerned with the nature of the welfare state and is considered as a Catholic thinker. About the political personalism of the philosopher Jacques Maritain and Emmanuel Mounier as well about Luigi Sturzo he has published numerous writings. He was one of the advisory staff of the Pope in the preparation of the encyclical Caritas in Veritate.

He is involved in, which was established by Pope John Paul II Centesimus Annus Pro 1991 Foundation Pontifice ( CAPP ) and is a member of the Scientific Committee.
