Marion J. Levy Jr.

Marion Joseph Levy Jr. ( born 1918 in Galveston, Texas; † 26 May 2002) was an American sociologist.

Levy Jr. studied at Harvard University sociology at Talcott Parsons and his doctorate there. He was appointed in 1947 at Princeton University, where he taught all his life as a professor. Levy Jr. has become known as modernization theorists. He was a proponent of structural functionalism and published extensive studies on Japan and China.
