Marisa Monte

Marisa de Azevedo Monte ( born July 1, 1967 in Rio de Janeiro) is a Brazilian singer and one of the biggest stars in the Música Popular Brasileira ( MPB). She has made ​​a name in Europe, the USA and Japan.

Marisa Monte is trained as a classical singer. Her warm mezzo - soprano is very flexible and gives their combined from different styles of MPB songs a fascinating touch. It cultivates in her repertoire traditional samba and folk melodies, but is also open to new developments and other styles.
