Marisa Monte
Marisa de Azevedo Monte ( born July 1, 1967 in Rio de Janeiro) is a Brazilian singer and one of the biggest stars in the Música Popular Brasileira ( MPB). She has made a name in Europe, the USA and Japan.
Marisa Monte is trained as a classical singer. Her warm mezzo - soprano is very flexible and gives their combined from different styles of MPB songs a fascinating touch. It cultivates in her repertoire traditional samba and folk melodies, but is also open to new developments and other styles.
She often collaborates with musicians and songwriters Carlinhos Brown, Arnaldo Antunes, Nando Reis, and with the New York Noise guitarist and producer Arto Lindsay. With Brown and Marisa Monte Antunes was formed in 2002 the band project Tribalistas whose titles Já Be Namorar ( I know how to love ) months topped the Brazilian charts, but was also in Europe and the U.S. quite successfully.
She is married with 16 years younger musician Pedro Bernardes. On 17 December 2002, her son Vladimir Mano Monte Bernardes was born.
