Mark Goodacre

Mark Goodacre ( born March 23, 1967 in Leicestershire, England ) is a British New Testament scholar. At the moment he stops as an assistant professor at Duke University in Durham, North Carolina (USA).

Goodacre has extensively researched and published about the Synoptic problem, ie about the issues of history and the literary context of the first three Gospels of the New Testament (Matthew, Mark, Luke ). He defends the Farrerhypothese, so accepts the temporal priority of Mark's Gospel, but rejects the hypothetical sayings source Q.

Academic career

Goodacre 1985-1994 attended Exeter College at Oxford University. At Oxford University, he made his two masters ( MA and MPhil. ) And 1994 his doctorate ( DPhil ). 1995-2005 he was a lecturer (from 2002 Senior Lecturer ) at the Faculty of Theology and Religion at the University of Birmingham.
