Mark Mazower

Mark Mazower (born 1958 in London) is a British historian and publicist.

Life and work

Mazower studied classical studies and philosophy at Oxford University and international relations at Johns Hopkins University, Baltimore (USA). In 1981, he earned his bachelor's degree in Oxford in 1983 his Master of Arts in Baltimore. In 1988 he received his doctorate at Oxford. He then taught at Birkbeck, University of London, University of Sussex, and Princeton University. He is currently a professor at Columbia University, New York City.

Mazowers specializes in the history of Greece in modern times, the history of the Balkans and the history of the Nazi regime in Europe and the ideologies of the 20th century. His works have been translated into several languages ​​, respectively. He achieved fame mainly through his book The Dark Continent (Eng. 2000), which combines political and intellectual history essay.

In addition to his academic and journalistic activity Mazower also works as a journalist, especially for the Financial Times.
