Markowice, Kuyavian-Pomeranian Voivodeship

The village Markovice ( German Markowitz ) is located in the powiat Mogileński in Kujawsko - Pomerania. The farm is the birthplace of the Polish poet and independence fighter Gustav Zielinski and the philologist Ulrich von Wilamowitz- Moellendorff. It was the beginning of the 19th century, owned by the Polish noble family Zielinski. Through active participation and financing of rebellions Gustav Zielinski against Russian domination led to expropriation and mid-19th century the estate was sold to the family Wilamowitz- Moellendorf.
