Markus Happe

Markus Happe ( born February 11, 1972 in Münster ) is a former German football player.

Career

Markus Happe grew up in Münster district Wolbeck and started in the local club VfL Wolbeck his football career. He changed already in youth to Preußen Münster. Here he made his debut in 1990 at the age of 18 years as a sweeper in the 2nd Bundesliga in the 1:3 defeat of Prussia in Park stadium of FC Schalke 04 By further good performances he recommended for higher tasks and, after just one season in the 2. League Preußen Münster in the 1st Bundesliga Bayer 04 Leverkusen. Also at Bayer 04 Leverkusen Markus Happe was a reliable defender, so he was called several times for U21. In January 2000 he moved to FC Schalke 04 after its potential for use in Leverkusen had fallen. Here he showed no strong performances, so he switched to the 1 FC Cologne in 2002. There, too, he could not play in the starting eleven themselves. Therefore he moved in January 2004 to Kickers Offenbach. He was regarded as constant in the defense and was team captain. In the summer of 2007, he returned to Bayer 04 Leverkusen to perform there until 2010, the second team. Since the 2010/11 season he has been active in the coaching staff of the A- juniors from Bayer Leverkusen.
