Markus Palionis

Markus Palionis (originally: Mindaugas Palionis; born May 12, 1987 in Kaunas ) is a Lithuanian- German football player. He is a defender, but is also occasionally used as a defensive midfielder.

Childhood

Markus Palionis was born in 1987 under the name " Mindaugas Palionis " in Kaunas. Palionis 's mom has German ancestors. Even as a child, he emigrated with his parents from Lithuania and went to Germany. Palionis grew up in Freilassing.

Career

In his youth, Markus Palionis played among others in the youth team of FC Bayern Munich. From 2005 he was at Wacker Burghausen under contract, for whom he played from 2006 into the first team. Since August 2008, he plays for the SG Dynamo Dresden. For the season 2010/11 he moved to SC Paderborn 07, where he signed a contract until 2012. In the first round of his first year he came mostly as a substitute for use in the second half he was then already common in the grid. This year, he was twice asked (once a second yellow card, once red) from the square. Because of the lengthy injuries to the ankle and operations he missed the season 2012/13.

Palionis was U-21 national team of Lithuania and completed a match for the Lithuanian national team.
