Marmara Ereğlisi (Greek Πέρινθος Perinthus, later Ἡράκλεια Heraclea ) is a Turkish port town in Eastern Thrace and a small fishing port in the Sea of ​​Marmara. The town belongs to the province of Tekirdağ.

Perinthus, probably a Thracian settlement, was colonized 654 BC or 599 BC Samos and later renamed in Heraclea ( Diodorus 16.76 ). In antiquity and the early Middle Ages led an important road of Heraclea, on Tzurulos ( Çorlu ) Arkadiupolis ( Lüleburgaz ), today Kırklareli Malko Tarnovo and after Sosopolis and Deultum on the Gulf of Burgas on the Black Sea coast.

The ancient city can still be seen in small parts today. At the market square in the lower city is an open air museum with finds. In the city there are excavations with mosaics. On the hill of the former Acropolis there are still not excavated ancient buildings and columns. Other findings can be seen at the Museum of Tekirdag.
