Marmelade

Jam ( haitian Mamlad ) is a town in the department of Artibonite north of Haiti with about 7,700 inhabitants ( as of 2009) .. The municipality has a total of about 34,700 inhabitants. The town is located 32 km south of the port city of Cap- Haïtien. Jam is at an altitude 600-1200 meters in Haiti's water- rich mountain region Massif du Nord. The abundance of water is due to sources and an average annual rainfall of 2500 mm).

The most important crop and export product of jam is the coffee - there are approximately 3,000 coffee farmers. The coffee growing was introduced already more than 270 years. Furthermore, a lot of vegetables is grown mainly beans and cassava. Under René Préval, the cultivation of bamboo has been heavily promoted in the region as part of a reforestation program and established a factory for the manufacture of bamboo furniture.

Jam is the home of Haitian President René Préval. However, according to official figures, it should be born in Port -au -Prince.
