Maroon leaf monkey

The Maronenlangur ( Presbytis rubicunda ) is a primate of the group of monkeys Slim ( Presbytini ), who lives in Borneo.

Named giving feature of Maronenlanguren is the reddish or orange fur, the hands and the tail is slightly darker on the belly slightly lighter and than on rest of body. They are small, slender primates with relatively long hind legs and a long tail, which is longer than the body. They reach an average body length of 45 to 55 centimeters and a weight of 6.2 kg, the males are slightly heavier than the females. The head is characterized by the wide face and the present, as with all Mützenlanguren hair.

Maronenlanguren are found only on Borneo and smaller islands such as the Karimata Islands. Their habitat are deeper primary and secondary forests.

They are like all Old World monkeys diurnal and live mainly in trees. They live in groups of up to 13 animals, which are composed of one male, several females and the corresponding offspring. The remaining males live solitary or form bachelor groups. The territory of each group is marked with loud cries, but the home ranges may overlap with the exception of the core mining area. The food of these animals consists of fruit, seeds and young leaves.

The type should be frequently compared with other Southeast Asian primates, the IUCN lists them as not at risk.
