Marpissa (spider)

Cow jumping spider ( Marpissa muscosa )

Marpissa is a genus in the family of jumping spiders ( Salticidae ). Members of this genus are 4-12 millimeters in size. They often have a conspicuous elongated body, the front body ( prosoma ) is much longer than wide. This is the upper side is flat and parallel side edges. The legs of the first pair of legs are longer and stronger than the other.

  • Marpissa nivoyi ( = Hyctia nivoyi )
  • Marpissa pomatia
