Marquess of Aberdeen and Temair

Marquess of Aberdeen and Temair is a hereditary British title of nobility in the Peerage of the United Kingdom, named after the city of Aberdeen in Scotland. It is worn by members of the Scottish clan Gordon, see also Gordon ( nobility ).

Ancestral home of the family is Haddo House, Aberdeen, Scotland.

Award

The title was created in 1916 for John Hamilton - Gordon, 7th Earl of Aberdeen, who had been from 1893 to 1898 Governor General of Canada from 1905 to 1915 and Lord Lieutenant of Ireland.

Subordinate title

Subordinate title of Marquess of Aberdeen and are Temair Earl of Aberdeen, Viscount of Formartine, and Lord Haddo, Methlic, Tarves and Kellie ( created 1682), belonging to the peerage of Scotland, Viscount Gordon ( created 1814) and Earl of Haddo ( created in 1916 ). The latter two titles are in the Peerage of the United Kingdom.

In addition, the Marquess holds the title of Baronet, of Haddo, Aberdeenshire, which was created in 1642 for John Gordon.

The survey was carried out on the peer for the third Baronet, who was Lord Chancellor of Scotland. The fourth Earl, who in addition to many other government offices also held the Prime Minister, in addition received the title of Viscount Gordon, was associated with a seat in the House of Lords.

The heir takes the courtesy title Earl of Haddo, his eldest son to those of a Viscount of Formartine.

The heir apparent is the son of the current Marquess, George Ian Alastair Gordon, Earl of Haddo (* 1983). Its legacy is his son Ivo Ninian Alexander Gordon, Viscount Formartine (* 2012).
