Marrero is a census -designated place (CDP ) in Jefferson Parish in the south of the U.S. state of Louisiana on the right bank of the Mississippi. In the census in 2010 Marrero had 33 141 inhabitants.

Marrero is part of the metropolitan area around the city of New Orleans.

Geography

Marrero is located in southeastern Louisiana in the southern suburban area of the city of New Orleans and is separated by the Mississippi River from this. The site has an area of 22.3 km ², of which 21 km ² land area.

History

The city was founded in honor of Luis H. Marrero, a police commander.
