Marti Friedlander

Marti Friedlander ( b. 1928 in London, United Kingdom ) is a New Zealand photographer.

Life

Friedlander was the daughter of Russian Jewish immigrants. From the age of three years, she grew up in orphanages. After her marriage to a New Zealander she wandered with him in 1958 from his home. Her husband worked as a dentist and as a nurse. At the same time she started in the foreign country they are to photograph and to deal with the conservative residents.

The historian Michael King, she worked together and photographed women of the Māoribevölkerung and their tattoos, the Tā moko. Some of these photographs were shown in 2012 as part of the Frankfurt Book Fair, along with the works of other New Zealanders in Frankfurt am Main.
