Martifer

The Martifer Group is originally a Portuguese company, today announced a multi-national group with a focus on metal construction and renewable energies, which employs more than 3,000 people worldwide. Martifer SGPS SA, the holding company of the Martifer Group is traded on the Euro Next Lisbon since June 2007.

Sales amounted to 606 million euros ( in 2009), of which 85 percent of the Iberian Peninsula and nearly fifteen percent in Central Europe. 55 percent of sales are generated in the metal, the rest prio in renewable energy, including wind power and biofuels under the brand name. Martifer has been awarded by the Institute Portugal with the award Great place to work in 2007.

Together with the Indian Suzlon Energy has acquired the majority of the German wind turbine manufacturer REpower AG in 2007 and now holds these together with the French company AREVA Under the entrepreneurial leadership of Suzlon.

Martifer is structured as follows: Martifer Metallic constructions (steel structures, aluminum and stainless steel), energy systems (wind energy, biodiesel and research of wave energy ), solar energy and RE Developer.

In the field of metal construction of bridges, sports stadiums, industrial buildings, airport terminals, shopping malls, the company is the largest in the Iberian peninsula and also active in Central and Eastern Europe.

In 2007, sales distributed as follows on the following areas:

  • 296 million euros: Martifer Metallic Construction (metal, metal working, especially steel, aluminum, stainless steel)
  • 114 million euros: Martifer Energy Systems ( construction of wind farms, solar parks and component manufacturing wind turbines, etc.)
  • 122 million euros: prio ( cultivation of oil crops and cereals (especially in Romania and Portugal, extraction of vegetable oil, biodiesel )
  • 82 million euros: Martifer Solar (configuration and operation of wind farms, the production of solar panels in Germany, Portugal and Spain, Eastern Europe and photovoltaic systems, expansion into the hydropower business in Portugal )

In November 2010, Martifer has announced a joint venture project with the California-based Silverado Power over photovoltaic statements. The contracts for 113 MWp include nine clean energy projects for Southern California near major power lines. It will offer thousands of households by means of a contract for 20 years with Southern California Edison (SCE ) clean energy. The business is part of a growing portfolio of projects with more than 400 MW net size of Martifer Solar and Silverado Power, which are located in the United States in development.

History

The company in 1990 in Oliveira de Frades, central Portugal by two brothers, Carlos Martins and Jorge Martins was founded. The company, started in the establishment with 18 employees, employed in 2009, has 3,000 employees. Subsidiary there in Spain ( 1999 ), Poland ( 2003), Romania ( 2005 ), Czech Republic ( 2005), Slovakia ( 2005), Germany (2005 ), Brazil (2006) and Angola ( 2006).
