Martin Branner

Martin Branner ( born December 28, 1888 in New York City, New York, † May 19 1970 in New London, Connecticut ) was an American cartoonist and creator of the comic strip Winnie Winkle.

Life

After working as a vaudeville artist and military service during the First World War was Branner cartoonist and published several short-lived comic series. The first strip of Winnie Winkle, appeared in September 1920. Branner Winnie Winkle held, published until 1996 and was filmed in the 1920s, several times, to 1962 and handed him over to his longtime assistant Max van Bibber. In the mid-1930s already Velter Robert had worked as assistant Branners.
