Martin de Jonge

Martin de Jonge ( born June 22, 1981 in Rotterdam) is a Dutch- Austrian badminton player.

Career

Martin de Jonge learned to play badminton in the Netherlands, but moved at the age of 17 years following differences with the Dutch national coach to Austria. He was in 2002 and 2003 junior champion in men's singles in his new home. In the latter year he was also the first time an Austrian in the men's doubles with Heimo Götschl. In the following season could both defend that title. In the Austrian national team, he started in 2002 at the Thomas Cup and 2003 in the Sudirman Cup. After protracted problems with the Achilles tendon he had to end his professional badminton career in 2006. He played in his career, in teams of Ribad Ridderkerk, BCR '91 Rotterdam, The Hague Velo, Hernals Vienna, ESBV Panache and BC Schijndel.
