MartÃn Fierro Awards
Martín Fierro is currently the most important Argentine radio price. It is awarded by the Association of Journalists Asociación de Periodistas de la Televisión y Radiofonia Argentinas ( Argentine Society of the radio and television journalists). Are rewarded both formats in radio and television as well as personalities.
The prize is awarded since 1959, with a contingent of the military dictatorship of the process of the National Reorganization interruption 1977-1988 1992. Present-day concept was introduced, which provides in addition to the Martín Fierro in gold, to the grand prize, a number of categories in which a Martín Fierro is awarded in silver. Because of the dominance of radio and television stations in the city of Buenos Aires, a separate price since 1991 is awarded for formats of production facilities outside the capital, the Martín Fierro del Interior.
The award was named after the epic poem Martín Fierro by José Hernández, which describes the life of a gaucho. Therefore, the statuette is a gold - or silver-colored Gauchofigur.
