Martin Finnegan

Martin Finnegan ( born October 8, 1979 in Lusk, County Dublin, Ireland; † 3 May 2008 Tandragee, County Armagh, Northern Ireland) was an Irish motorcycle racer.

Finnegan began at a young age to ride the motorcycle, initially on so-called grass tracks, where he struck by the first successes soon. In his late teenage years, he then tried to asphalt bike paths.

In 2000, he won the Manx Grand Prix in the category Junior Newcomers on the Isle of Man. This success marked the beginning of his career as a street driver. In 1997, he won a total of 43 Irish road race for themselves. The 2008 season he played for the team JMF Mills Port Yamaha.

Martin Finnegan was killed in a crash during the Supersport 600 race at the Tandragee 100 by a failure of his front brake killed. Shortly before, he had to celebrate his 43rd Irish road victory in the opening race of the event.

Martin Finnegan left a wife and a little daughter. At his funeral on May 7, attended by some 10,000 fans.
