Martin Gropius Krankenhaus

The Martin Gropius Hospital is a specialized hospital for neurology and psychiatry in Eberswalde.

The building was built in 1862-1865 by Berlin architect Martin Gropius on behalf of the estates of the Electorate of Brandenburg as "land - err - Neustadt- Eberswalde institution ". There was an aesthetically pleasing, functional and representative system in the block system. It justified Gropius ' reputation as a leading hospital architect of his time. His design was the way for the later emergence of little pavilion system.

By 1945 the complex was operated as a State Institute of Province of Brandenburg. After him, the Red Army used until 1994 as a hospital. The mental hospital was housed in outbuildings. Starting in 1997, the building was thoroughly renovated. In 2002, the country's clinic moved back into the building. In 2006, the districts of Barnim and Uckermark together with the city of Eberswalde carrier. The hospital received its present name.

The " Martin Gropius hospital " today operates Departments of Neurology, Children's and adolescent psychiatry and psychotherapy, for (adult) Psychiatry, Forensic Psychiatry, a sleep lab and several clinics.
