Martin Monrad

Martin Monrad (born 19 December 1977) is a Danish table tennis player. In 2005 he was European Champion.

International career

Initial successes achieved Monrad at the European Youth Championships. Here he reached in 1992 in Topolcany in the competition of cadets in singles and doubles with Morten Knudsen the final. In 1994, he won the junior class in Paris with the Danish team. A year later he won the title in The Hague in a double with the Russians Alexei Smirnov.

From 1995 to 2006 Monrad participated in nine World Championships. A medal win not succeed in doing. Since 1996, he has been nominated several times for the European Championships. In 1998 he came to the double quarter-finals. He was with the Danish team European team champion, 2009, reached the final in 2005.

In the ITTF World Ranking He is currently (March 2011) ranked 175 out. In mid-2005 he was ranked 75th

Activities in Germany

1995 left Monrad the Danish Club Horning BTK and joined the German club TTC Green White Bad Hamm, who was playing in the 2nd Bundesliga. In 1997 he moved to Borussia Dusseldorf, with the men's team, he was the 1997/98 German champion and the following year was in the final of the European Champions Cup. Four years later he went to Sweden to Malmö FF.

National Championships

The Danish National Championships Monrad won several titles:

  • Single - six titles in 1997, 1998, 2000, 2002, 2003, 2007
  • Double - eight titles: 1996, 1998, 1999, 2000, 2003, 2004, 2006, 2007 each with Allan Bentsen
  • Teams: 1994, 1995 Horning BTK
