Martin Pearlman

Martin Pearlman ( born May 21, 1945 in Chicago, Illinois) is an American harpsichordist, composer and conductor.

Life

In 1973 he founded the now renamed Boston Baroque Ensemble Banchetto Musicale, the first permanent Baroque Orchestra of North America, which he has since been projected as a music director. Pearlman was the first conductor in the field of early music, who had a live performance at the Grammy Awards.

As a conductor, he also worked outside of Baroque music with various orchestras and has made numerous CD recordings one. He conducted a rare recording of today hardly known Singspiel The benevolent dervish of musicians from the circle of Mozart.

In 1972 he was awarded the Erwin Bodky Award for Early Music.
