Martin Rennie

Martin Rennie ( May 22nd, 1975 in Thurso ), is a Scottish football coach.

Since August 9, 2011, he coached the Vancouver Whitecaps in Major League Soccer.

Rennie went at the age of 19 years in the United States. There, the midfielder played with the Charlotte Eagles in the A-League. He had to give up a short time later due to a knee injury but this commitment. Rennie went out to Scotland and played until the end of 30 at various Scottish Amateuervereinen. His knee injury gave him time and again to create, until finally he had to end his career as an active player.

Coaching career

Cascade Surge

Rennie won the UEFA A coaching license at the age of 26 years. He was one of the youngest who has ever done this coaching license. In 2005, he began his coaching career at Cascade Surge. Surge was playing in the USL Premier Development League. With the team from Salem, Oregon, he achieved the best result of his entire coaching career. Overall, the team lost only two games and reached the championship final of the USL PDL.

After this success, he had numerous offers from various U.S. teams. After graduating in Scotland still more courses in training and psychology, he returned as coach of the Cleveland City Stars. He thus became the first coach of the newly formed USL Second Division franchises. With the Stars, he went straight to number two in the league and was named the best coach of the year. A season later, was even able to win the play-offs of the USL -2 team.

Carolina RailHawks FC

For the 2009 season, he moved to the Carolina RailHawks FC in the USL First Division. After two streaky game times for the Hawk, managed Rennie with the team in 2nd place in the league. In the play-offs semi-final could be achieved.

During the 2010 season, the team has grown into one of the best teams outside the Major League Soccer. She reached 2 Professional League, the then second division of the country, the first place in the NASL Conference in the USSF Division. In the play-offs Rennie standing with his team in the final. This success could be continued in the 2011 season. The RailHawks were now playing in the newly created North American Soccer League and occupied in their first season in first place in the regular season.

Vancouver Whitecaps FC

On November 1, 2011 Rennie joined the Major League Soccer to Vancouver Whitecaps.
