Martin Rev

Martin Rev ( * in New York; completely Martin Reverby ) is an American musician and film composer. He is the instrumentalist of the punk rock band Suicide. Along with Alan Vega, he laid the foundations of techno. Rev Martin lives and works in New York.

Life

Martin Rev was born in the Bronx, New York under the name Martin Reverby. In 1970, Martin Rev, Alan Vega, together with the punk rock band Suicide in New York. Previously, Martin Rev had gained experience as a free-jazz musicians. After initial successes, Suicide dissolved in 1973 for the time being.

1976 Rev and Vega took up the thread again and advanced to the root band of the legendary New York punk club CBGB's. In 1977, she released her debut album, Suicide. This joint second collaboration lasted until 1992.

In the late 1990s Suicide has been recognized as a pioneer of the genre Techno. 1998 Rev and Vega is united for a re-release of their album Suicide. In 2002, she celebrated with the album American Supreme comeback.

In addition to Martin Rev Suicide pursued numerous solo projects. It always came back to a collaboration with artist Stefan Roloff. 2002 Rev Martin composed the film score for the documentary Red Chapel by Stefan Roloff.
