Martin Sherman

Martin Sherman ( born 1938 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania) is an American playwright, screenwriter and author.

Life

Sherman attended the Boston University College of Fine Arts and in 1960 reached its conclusion. After his studies he wrote several plays. On Broadway, he was best known for the play Bent, which was nominated for a Tony Award in 1980 and later made ​​into a film with the same title. The play is about the fate of homosexuals in concentration camps in the 1940s. Sherman wrote the script further to The Boy from Oz, which is based on the life of Peter Allen. For this he received another Tony Award nomination. His play Rose was nominated for the Laurence Olivier Award.
