Martinho Ndafa Kabi

Martinho Ndafa Kabi ( born September 17, 1957 in Nhacra region Oio ) was 2007-2008 Prime Minister of Guinea- Bissau. He belongs to the Partido Africano da Independencia da Guiné e Cabo Verde ( PAIGC ) on. From 2003 on, he was third vice- chairman of the Party.

Kabi is the successor of Aristides Gomes Prime Minister of Guinea- Bissau since April 13, 2007. In the Carlos Gomes Júnior government of Prime Minister from May 2004 he was Minister of Energy and Natural Resources. In April 2005 he was Secretary of Defense. He held this post until the government of Aristides Gomes took office in November 2005. After Aristides Gomes lost a vote of confidence and resigned in March 2007, Kabi was proposed by a coalition as the new prime minister. This coalition consisted of the PAIGC, the Partido para a Renovação Social ( PRS) and the Partido Unido Social Democrático ( PUSD ). President João Bernardo Vieira had refused Kabi, however, the coalition insisted on its decision; so Vieira Kabi appointed the new Prime Minister. He took office on 13 April 2007 and his new government of 20 ministers was appointed on April 17. When the PAIGC announced the coalition in early August 2008, Kabi of President Vieira was dismissed, the new prime minister was the Carlos Correia.
