Martynas Švėgžda von Bekker

Martynas Švėgžda of Bekker (1967; lituanisiert also Martynas Švėgžda of Bekkeris ) is a Lithuanian violinist and music teacher.

Life

Švėgžda Bekker began playing the violin five years old, seven years old, he played his first solo concert. At age eleven, played by Bekker his first concert together with the Symphony Orchestra of the city of Vilnius.

From 1973 to 1986 attended by Bekker State National Mikalojus - Konstantinas - Čiurlionis art school. Between 1986 and 1989 he studied at the Lithuanian Music and Theatre Academy under the supervision of Raimundas Katlius. In the following years, learned and worked with various musicians, including Eberhardt Feltz (violin, 1983), Igor Bezrodny (violin, 1985), Igor Oistrakh (violin, 1988), Volker Banfield ( Chamber Music, 1990), Ralph Gothoni (chamber music, 1990), Boris Garlitsky (violin, 1996) and Detlev Kraus ( chamber Music, 1992). In 1996 he continued his studies at the Academy of Music and Theatre in Hamburg, the Russian violinist Mark Lubotsky looked after him there.

From Bekker already took an early part in various musical competitions. 1983 took third place at the International Music Competition Kozian children. In 1984, he won the second place at the Lithuanian Youth Music Competition in 1990 to third place at the International Johannes Brahms Wettbeberb.

From 1991 to 1995 he played together in the Piano Trio Color is. He had his Germany debut in 1993 with an appearance with the Hamburg Symphony Orchestra at an Alfred Schnittke Concerto. Since 2001 he has been director of the annual music festival Alternatyva. Since 2003 he has been living in Lithuania and lectures, among others, his former workplace, the state art school Mikalojus Konstantinas Čiurlionis.

Discography

Previously published by Bekker four different recording collections of his concerts. In 1991, he published several works of Shostakovich and Felix Mendelssohn ( Polygram Germany ), 1997 various solos by Lithuanian composers (Date, France ), 1998 a concert of violin and piano ( Japis, Iceland ) and most recently in 2005 a miniature collection entitled Le son et la parole ( Baltic Optical disc, 2005).
