Maruoka (Fukui)

Maruoka (Japanese丸 冈 町, -chō, literally: Round Mound ) was a city in the Sakai -gun in the Japanese prefecture of Fukui.

History

The city was incorporated into Sakai on 20 March 2006.

Attractions

In Maruoka the castle built in 1576 Maruoka is (丸 冈 城, Maruoka - jo ). Although only the main tower is present, it is the oldest surviving castle in Japan.
