Marussia Motors

Marussia Motors Company is a Russian car manufacturer from Moscow.

History

The company was founded by TV presenter and former racing driver Nikolay Fomenko and Yefim Ostrovsky by Andrei Tscheglakow 2007. Marussia Motors is the first sports car manufacturer in the premium class in Russia. Claim of the company is to compete with the world's best super sports car manufacturers.

On 16 December 2008 Nikolai Fomenko in Moscow presented the first prototype of the company, the B1. The second model B2 was shown at the International Motor Show in Frankfurt in September 2009. In the vehicles 3.5-liter V6 engines from Cosworth be used. The 309- kW motors are currently the strongest that can offer Marussia. In planning engines are higher powered and electric cars. On 12 March 2010 was shown at the Svyaz - Expocomm 2010, the prototype of the SUV F2.

It is planned to produce 3,000 cars a year. The models whose visual details can be adapted to customer requirements, are offered at prices from about 100,000 euros.

2010, the Company acquired a significant proportion of the Formula 1 teams Virgin Racing. In the 2011 season the team went under the name of Marussia Virgin Racing. For the 2012 racing season Marussia took over the team completely and enters F1 team under his own name to Marussia.

Marussia is supported in its projects by the British engine manufacturer Cosworth.
