Marvis Frazier

Marvis Frazier ( born September 10, 1960 in Philadelphia ) is a former American heavyweight boxer Joe Frazier and son.

Amateur

Frazier was one of the best amateurs in its class. Although he weighed only 90 kg, he was victorious in 50 fights, said he suggested, among others, Tim Witherspoon. In 1979, he won the Golden Gloves tournament in Yokohama and was Junior World Champion. In 1980 he was American heavyweight champion, but then went into the Olympic qualification against James Broad by a single hit in the first round knockout, which should be a bad sign.

Professional career

In 1980 he became a professional. After only eight wins in 1983 he hit his undefeated amateur conqueror Broad, at this time twelve wins on points. In the next fight Frazier won against Joe Bugner. Right after he joined, now with only ten professional fights in a non-title fight against champion Larry Holmes. Holmes, who weighed 10 kg and was equipped with 44 wins significantly more experienced, gave him in this duel on November 25, 1983 no chance and won by TKO in the first round.

Frazier defeated in the subsequent period, among others, James Tillis and James Smith; against Tillis he was down for the count standing, against Smith, he was on the ground. On July 26, 1986 he was up against the young, aspiring Mike Tyson and lost again by first-round KO. After three more fights then he finished his career in 1988.
