Mary Goudie, Baroness Goudie

Mary Teresa Goudie, Baroness Goudie, of Roundwood in the London Borough of Brent (birth name: Mary Teresa Brick, born September 2, 1946) is a British business manager and politician of the Labour Party, which is a life Peeress member of the House of Lords since 1998.

Life

Mary Goudie, in 1964 a member of the Labour Party, began her political career in local politics and was elected in 1971 as the youngest politician as a member of the Council of the London Borough of Brent, where she was employed until 1978. During this time she was both chairman of the Committee on Housing and Planning and Deputy Whip of the Group of the Labour Party.

Professionally, she was thereupon 1977-1981 Executive Assistant to the housing company People's Housing Association and then moved into the party central of the Labour Party, in which it was 1981-1987 Secretary of the solidarity campaign for the party. In addition, it was between 1985 and 1989 Director of the Hansard Society and the connection first director of the magazine House before it from 1990 to 1995 Manager of Public Relations at WWF UK. After she was then an independent consultant for public relations, she has worked since 1998 as a strategy and management consultant.

By Letters Patent of 21 July 1998 was raised in the London Borough of Brent to the peerage as Mary Goudie Life Peeress with the title Baroness Goudie, of Roundwood. Shortly afterwards, was their introduction ( Introduction) as a member of the House of Lords.

In the aftermath Baroness Goudie was that was between 1998 and 2001 a member of the campaign team of the Labour Party and in 2000 an honorary doctorate ( Hon. LL.D. ) Edinburgh Napier University was awarded from 1998 to 2001, member of the subcommittee of the House of Law and Institutien of the European Communities as well as connecting member of the Upper House from Ministry of Interior (Home Office ). Subsequently, she served from 2001 to 2003 as chairman of the organization of the House of Lords members of their party and was next to 2001 Member of the Committee of the House of Lords procedure and in 2002 a member of the Subcommittee on Finance and Human Resources and the House of Lords Committee on Communication.
