Masaaki Yamazaki

Masaaki Yamazaki (Japanese山崎 正 昭, Yamazaki Masaaki, born May 24, 1942 in Ōno, Fukui Prefecture) is a Japanese politician of the Liberal Democratic Party ( LDP Machimura faction ), Member of the Sangiin, the upper house of the Japanese parliament, for the Prefecture Fukui and since 2013 President of the Sangiin.

Yamazaki graduated in 1965 his studies at the Political and Economic Sciences Institute of the Faculty of Law, Nihon Daigaku and then worked for the construction company Yamazaki Kensetsu Kōgyō. In 1975 he was elected to the city council of Ōno, 1979 for the first of four terms in the prefecture of Fukui Parliament. From 1985 to 1987 he was Vice- President of the Parliament, 1991-1992 President.

The change in national policy took Yamazaki in 1992 Sangiin - choice when he ran in Fukui ( a mandate per sub dial ) to succeed the deceased a few months earlier Tasaburō Kumagai (LDP ). With nearly 60 % of the vote he won against two candidates of Rengo no Kai and CPY. 1998, 2004 and 2010, he was confirmed in each case by an absolute majority in office. In the LDP, he took over from 2005 to 2009 the leadership of the Association of Fukui Prefecture; In 2006, he was also Vice Chairman of the Machimura faction. From 2007 to 2009 he was Secretary General of the LDP Sangiin Group.

2012 Yamazaki was chosen as the successor to Hidehisa Otsuji as Vice President of Sangiin, after the LDP victory in the Sangiin - election in 2013 as President of the Chamber - had six years in which the Democratic Party was the strongest force in Sangiin and asked the President. Like most Sangiin - President and Vice- President he is attached member since 2012.

Yamazaki is also since 1990 President of the Ski Association Fukui ( Fukui -ken Suki renmei ) and since 2005 President of the Equestrian Association of Fukui ( Fukui -ken bajutsu renmei ).
