Masashi Ozaki

Masashi "Jumbo" Ozaki (Japanese尾崎 将 司, Masashi Ozaki; born January 24, 1947 in Shishikui (now Kaiyo ), Tokushima Prefecture, Japan) is the most successful professional golfers of the Japan Golf Tour. He is better known as Jumbo Ozaki, because of his height ( 1.81 Meter/90 kg) and his long discount.

Ozaki was originally a professional baseball player, and that pitcher from 1965-67, but decided at the age of 23 years for golf and won the Japan Pro Golf Championship in the following year.

Jumbo won the money list the Japan Golf Tour eleven times, won there 94 Tournament victories and has been recorded almost € 20 million in prize money. Outside of Japan, however, he was not nearly as successful, with only two successes in smaller events. Although he appeared 18 times at the Masters, but could only reach 1973 8th place, at the U.S. Open in 1989 Ozaki took a 6th place as the best placement. Nevertheless, Jumbo is in the U.S. quite a popular figure, even though he is not exactly fond of the English language.

His brothers Naomichi (better known as "Joe" Ozaki ) and Tateo are also professional golfers, where Joe is just as popular as Jumbo, while Tateo is hardly known internationally.

Ozaki is age- long allowed to start for seniors tournaments, but still plays regularly on the Japan Golf Tour.
